Our class regularly participates in brain breaks (DPA). We choose activities from gonoodle.com Each time we complete an activity, our character (Squatchy Berger) goes through a transformation. Today we received a certificate for all of our activity. We will have to say farewell to Squatchy as we will be creating a new mascot for future gonoodle activities. Today during math, students were working in groups to determine the perimeter of their given shape. I was so impressed with how well it went and can't wait to try it out again. Each and every student was engaged, on task and eager to assist their peers if they needed any extra support. It was a great learning opportunity both in math, leadership and character education. Students used base tens and ones to help them add up all of the measurements. The We Club will be holding a Books for Bricks sale on Wednesday and Thursday of this week (January 28-29). Books will be sold from as low as 50 cents to $1. Bring your money to school and support a great cause. ![]() Sharing With Others: Books for Bricks Fieldcrest will once again be holding a book sale to help raise money for Free The Children. We are currently looking for donations of books and movies for the sale. Any donations may be dropped off at the school. Stay tuned for dates of the sale. Thank you for your continued support of our school fundraisers. We are learning about using non-standard tools to measure with. We will be using the yarn as a reference guide when comparing how many cubes tall we are. Eventually, we will be looking at our results and comparing the difference between height in cubes versus height in centimetres. I wonder which unit (standard or non-standard) will have the higher number for each student? I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday that was filled with lots of fun, time with family and friends. It was so nice to see everyone today. I am looking forward to the year 2015 and what it has in store for us. Please reference the tabs above (Calendar and Newsletters) for the most up to date information. Today we started our school wide DPA ( Daily Physical Activity) where grade 8 students lead specific exercises to promote being active. This will happen on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for 10 minutes. I also incorporate DPA throughout the week and a big hit in our class is Just Dance. A lot of the students in our class are very familiar with Just Dance, so I encourage them to challenge themselves to pick activities at home that will encourage them to be active as well. Keep fit and have fun!
