Each student wrote their own Earth Day Pledge to demonstrate, responsibility which tied in nicely to our character trait for the month of April. Hopefully each student will continue to be responsible and follow through with their pledge. Ask your child what there pledge was.
Please continue to practise the following with your child:
We have actually been ahead of the game in grade 2 by making poetry apart of our daily literacy block each day at school. Our Shared Reading has been apart of our literacy program all year. So far, we have been learning about how to write acrostic and diamante poems. The kids and I have been having a lot of fun brainstorming and writing these styles of poetry. Today, I read a book called Alligator Stew by Dennis Lee. If going to the Bradford Public Library is something that you do as a family, having your child sign out a children's book of poems would be a great way to practise reading aloud placing emphasis on fluency, expression and using the punctuation in the poem as a guide for your child's voice.
Discuss ways that you demonstrate RESPONSIBILITY at school and at home. Share a couple of examples for each on our blog. It will be interesting to compare how you show responsibility versus your peers.
